Governance Board

Our school board is dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can achieve academic excellence and personal growth in a safe and supportive setting.

As elected representatives of our community, we are committed to making informed decisions that shape the future of our schools. Our responsibilities include:

  • Policy Development: Crafting and implementing policies that promote high educational standards and equity.
  • Budget Oversight: Ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support student learning and well-being.
  • Superintendent Supervision: Collaborating with and providing oversight for the Superintendent to ensure the district's strategic goals are met.
  • Curriculum and Instruction: Evaluating and approving curricula that meet the diverse needs of our students and prepare them for future success.
  • Facilities Management: Overseeing the maintenance and improvement of school facilities to provide a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Community Engagement: Encouraging active participation from parents, students, teachers, and community members to foster a collaborative educational community.

The Wisconsin Connect Governance Board is made up of members who are invested in creating an innovate option for students.  They meet regularly to discuss needs for the Charter School.  The Governance Board meeting are open to the public.  To contact a board member please email: "wisco@basd.k12.wi.us".

Parent Council

WisCo will engage parents of students within the charter school to participate in a parent advisory meeting in order for the charter school to gain feedback from families throughout the school year.  The advisory meetings will be held twice per year and serve to advise the Governance Board on issues relating to WisCo.  

WisCo will hold parent meetings biannually to inform all school parents of the School’s mission and educational programming.

  • WisCo is a tuition free public Virtual Charter School.  Curriculum and on-site enrichment opportunities are provided for students at no cost.  Families would just have to pay the registration fee for the school district.  There could be some extracurricular opportunities that may have a fee associated.  Additional specialty school supplies, if needed, will be purchased by the family.

     
    • Students who need a Chromebook will be issued a district device.

    • Online Students-

      • Physical and or Digital Textbooks will be provided for classes chosen.  Type of textbook will be varied based on class.

    • Book Based Students

      • Physical Materials and learning guides will be provided for all classes

    • Anything not returned at the end of the school year/term or is returned damaged will be charged for their replacements.

    • All families will receive regular communication about their students progress.

    • All families will also receive a WisCo Monthly Newsletter that has updates, reminders and tips and tricks with learning virtually.  

    • All families will have the opportunity to have a Parent/Teacher Conference 

    • There is a licensed special education teacher on staff who will receive a copy of your student's IEP and will be able to discuss specific supports available.  Prior to their placement into WisCo, the IEP team and family will meet to make sure that the chosen Virtual Setting can meet the needs for the student.  For any other questions related to  special education support, please contact our program coordinator

     
  • For any student who is interested in participating in any BASD Activities and WIAA sponsored athletics please contact the Burlington High School Activities/Athletics Department at activities@basd.k12.wi.us with any questions regarding opportunities to participate and to set up a meeting to join.
